Memorizing Scripture and truly knowing what Gods truths are is so important. It's even more important when we are busy creating a home and 'doing' life because this is when it can get pushed aside. Each week I will pick a verse to memorize. I will try to pick one that applies to creating a home with intention- one that all women can relate to. Today I got out of the house without kids. Not a single kid went with me! For a mom of 4 kids all under 4 years old, that is an amazing, almost impossible thing. I have a sweet friend who has 2 kids of her own. Her youngest and my youngest were actually born on the same day (which is the best kind of twins- a mommy for each baby)! She brought her two kids over and watched all 6 kids while I went out for a bit. I rarely get out of the house without at least one or two kids in toe. In fact it has only happened one other time in the last 5 months, and that was when I was visiting a friend in the hospital, so I was not allowed to take them with me. I have people tell me all the time that I need to get away from the kids to be a better mom. That I deserve to get away. I just simply don't agree. 5 Min Friday- Listen

 Write for 5 minutes and link up here at Lisa-Jo Baker. Todays word- Listen. GO I think, I want 5 minutes of peace. I want 5 minutes to myself! 5 minutes without a 3 year old whining about something, without a 2 year old calling for help, 'mommy, mommy, mommy, mommy...', without a infant crying to be picked up. Then I stop and listen. Really listen . I hear a 3 year old who so desperately wants to be independent but doesn't know how to break away yet. I get to be her everything for only a few more years . I hear two very special (almost) two year olds who love me and want me to be involved in everything they are doing and learning. I get to be the one to help them learn , I get to be the one that cheers them on and encourages them. I hear a brand new sweet blessing calling for me. Every Bean Is A Winner

Competition. With 5 kids in a small house, it is  everywhere . Who can get to the phone first when it rings ...Who can grab the seat first at the dinner table ... Who gets to the chicken coop first to collect the eggs...Who gets to be first to ride the horse ... I can jump higher on the trampoline. I can climb higher on the rock wall. Race you down the hill. Race you up to the top of the tree. Competition. It's not always a bad thing. But, I have noticed in my parenting it is not a good thing. Lately, I have tried to be intentional about teaching from a story point of view instead of a "see what this kid did, don't do that" point of view.  I want to encourage and equip my kids as I train them up, not tear them down. Using one kids mistake as a benchmark for the others neither encourages or equips any of them, it only divides.
